My first semester in BZSE

My first semester is a wonderful experience i would say. Because first of all, we were all given a task on the first day of school which was to choose a social organization to work on for our project. My group chose World Toilet Organization (WTO). It was a life-changing experience for me and my group mates. Why do i say so? Because although i know that many third world countries lack of sanitation and toilets, i did not know the condition would have been so bad. That is why WTO has to come in and help these needy people to regain their pride and dignity by building toilets for them. Me and m group mates have been to WTO office itself to interview the founder who is Mr Jack Sim. I am impressed with the way he works which allows much freedom to his employees that make working with him easier. WTO is a fine example of a social entrepreneur. They have displayed a heart of compassion that every social entrepreneur should have. Why do I say that? They have gone all the way to China and Indonesia to improve their sanitation and to build more toilets.I believe that one day, i will able to be like WTO, achieve great things by helping to restore dignity for the needy.

Okay, enough of work. Now is fun time!
Every year, there will be a parent's forum organized by the school to let year ones' parents to know the progress of their children in school. Me and many other BZSE students volunteered to help out. Through this forum, our parents are finally able to know what our course is about. After our forum, we all had fun taking pictures and bond together. I am really glad to have known these wonderful and lovely people from BZSE.

No matter what, we BZSE students will always stick and be united as one cause we all have a vision, to use our hands to help people in need.

Before entering BZSE

Actually during secondary school, my goal was to get into business studies in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. So, of course when i have to put down the 12 choices for my JAE, Business studies was my first choice. I remembered vaguely that Busines & Social Enterprise (BZSE) was one of my last few choices. I did not even know much about that course then. When JAE posting was released, i did not get into my desired course. Instead, i got into my second choice, which is Business Administration in Singapore Poly. I was devastated because i knew i have worked hard for my O'levels and i got the results that is able to get me through Business Studies. Few days later, i decided to appeal for a transfer to business studies. BZSE was one of my appealed choices. Guess what? I still did not get into Business Studies and I am here now in BZSE. However, it was a twist of everything. Initially, i thought BZSE would have been a very boring and uninteresting course. I was definitely wrong to think that way. BZSE is the best course and the wisest decision i have ever made. I believe that many people will face the same situation as me- not getting their desired course. But you never know what the future might brings. You may not get into your desired course, but it does not mean that the course you got into will be bad. It may be a blessing in disguise, like my situation.

Business & Social Enterprise, where business meets compassion

Business & Social Enterprise, where business meets compassion. So what is this course all about? Basically, it is learning how to do business with a vision of helping the needy in the future. This course will equip us with the business knowledge and social objectives which will train us to be future social entrepreneurs so that we, BZSE students can make a difference in this world. We will be able to alleviate social problems without getting hand-outs from government or donors because we have the knowledge to do business as well. Furthermore, the satisfaction from looking at the smiles from the people you have helped is priceless. So, do you want to help brighten the lives of the needy?
